It'd be easy to gush about Videos Z. Too easy to reZist in fact, so I'll get to that in a moment after I've been suitably pernickety for a paragraph.

Oh, what the hell. Videos Z despite its needlessly odd name, is a goldmine of pornography. The site idea couldn't be simpler; assemble ready-made porno DVDs in one place and let people download them in exchange for a monthly fee. At the time of writing, there are 1190 complete DVDs available for download. Let that think in for a moment. One thousand, one hundred and ninety full-length DVDs for download, and a new one is added every day. Teen, mature, group, facial, anal, toys, lingerie, Asian, Latin, lesbian the list goes on. Experienced watchers will also recognise publishing houses like Smash Pictures, Sin City, Adam and Eve and Jill Kelly Productions. Downloading is a cinch too. You can only get a scene at a time due to the often massive file sizes, but when scenes are regularly half an hour long that's not much of a drawback. Hi-Def broadband (near-DVD), Low-Def broadband and Modem are your quality options, and you can stream or download. The first options will mean a long wait for most people downloading longer scenes, but the quality is strikingly better than other sites I've reviewed of late and lower quality downloads are significantly smaller in size.

Getting to the content is a pleasurable experience in and of itself. Videos Z looks less like a traditional porn site and more like a Web 2.0 design blog, with features to match. The search facility limits you to scanning titles and pornstars (Google this aint), but you can easily browse by genre, publishing house, DVD series and model, so finding something to your tastes rarely takes long. Because members can rate scenes independently, you'll also be able to follow public opinion rather than blind luck. In fact my only real criticism of this area would be that you only get three small preview images for each scene and the vast majority of them look very similar meaning your only real guide to visual difference between different scenes are the DVD covers, and we've all been fooled by those in the past.

Most reviews you'll find about the Web go nuts over Videos Z and it's easy to see why, but recently the site brought in a new policy that would certainly knock big chunks off any newer score: they introduced DRM protection onto their movies. What this essentially means is you can only play the content with the correct license which would be fine, were it not for the fact that your license expires along with your membership to Videos Z. Or, it did anyway. There's now an announcement on the members' page saying that provided members save the license to their Windows Media Player, they'll only ever be asked once for it. What's more, future releases will have no such protection at all, so let the high scores remain!

Videos Z isn't perfect, it's not cheap and if I was being really picky, I could have easily filled this space with a list of what's wrong with it but to be honest, the staggering amount of content almost counters it all. If you could download all the movies here in one month, you'd have paid less than 3 cents for each disc. That's my kind of math.

It doesn't have everything, but it does let you see what it has before you join, and you really can't ask for more than that. People wanting uniforms, gay sets, machine sex and other genres not found in the mainstream will have to look elsewhere, but for a general collection of videos, there are few sites that beat Videos Z and with plans to cater specifically for your iPod and PlayStation Portable, it looks like they aim to remain at the top.
